As well as adding telephone number validation, mobile validation and email validation controls to your ASP.NET toolkit, our Data Capture & Validation pack also includes an address capture control - just drag & drop to implement a full postcode lookup solution on your website. Download our ASP.NET control pack now to get started.
As well as a simple postcode lookup option, the control gives you a full free-text search option for people that do not know the postcode of the address they want to enter, ensuring that you always get complete and accurate data submitted.
For the best results, simply place the control inside an UpdatePanel to allow users to enter address details without requiring a full postback.
That's all you need to do! To get the completed address out of the control in your server-side code, simply use the Address1 - Address6, Town, County and Postcode properties.
Need to ensure that the user has finished entering an address before they submit your form? Simply add a RequiredFieldValidator and set its ControlToValidate property to the AddressCapture control.
There are loads of properties you can change to customize the display of the control, or you can provide entirely custom templates for each stage of the postcode lookup process - just give your account manager a call to speak to one of our technical team for details.

A few weeks ago, my 5 year old son was asked at school what he wanted to be when he grew up. He answered, not surprisingly given the gusto that he puts into his collection of Match Attax trading cards, that he would like to be a footballer.
As a keen Tottenham fan exiled some years ago to the North West, I have previously been through the parental decision of whether or not to indoctrinate: should I get him to follow me and support the mighty Spurs or allow him to choose? Eventually I decided that it might be better if he chose a team that is a) local and b) might actually win something in his lifetime. The kid next door supported Liverpool and that swung it for him - one out of two is not bad!
"So what do you do at work, Dad?" he asked a few days later. "I'm living the data cleansing dream" I replied, not ultimately convinced that it had the same kinds of perks that John Terry and his team mates enjoy. We did spend an enjoyable Sunday afternoon talking about the finer points of fuzzy matching during telephone number appending and the environmental benefits of goneaway screening a marketing database, but based on the luke warm response, I’m doubtful that I’d ever have enough influence to be able to get him to follow me into the data cleansing industry. Shame.

We know it's important to have the right address for your customers, and nowhere is it more important than in your accounts system - having the right address lets you find customers quicker, identify duplicates and chase payments more effectively. With Sage 50 Accounts (formerly known as Sage Line 50) being the most popular accounts and bookkeeping package in the UK, we've made things easier by creating some ready-to-use configuration settings for our postcode lookup application to add postcode lookup functionality to Sage 50 Accounts.
- Account Setup
To get started, activate your free trial of our postcode lookup application - you'll need to log in, or register if you haven't already got an account with us.
- Software Installation
After activating your free trial, you'll be sent an email with a link to our software. Download and install this software and you'll see a small orange "8" logo in your system tray (the area next to the Windows clock).
- Configuration
Our software can be trained to work with almost any application, but to make things easier we've put together some configuration settings to work with the New Customer/Supplier/Bank etc. wizard screens, Edit Customer, Edit Supplier and Invoice delivery address screens. To import these settings, right-click on the links above and select "Save Target As...". Save the files to your "My Documents" area. Now, right-click on the orange "8" icon in your system tray and select "Options...". Go to the "Application Settings" tab and click "Import...". Select the first of the files you have downloaded and click OK, then repeat for each of the others.
You'll also need to enter your Data8 username and password details on the "Login" tab, and select "Free Trial" from the "Licence" drop-down list. Finally, click OK to close the Options screen.
- Find an Address
Now you're all configured, you can start to quickly enter addresses into Sage 50 Accounts. When you are entering a new customer, click in the first of the address fields in the New Customer Wizard screen and press Ctrl+8 to bring up the Integr8 Postcode Lookup screen. Enter the postcode (and optionally a building name, number or company name) and click "Get Address". All the matching addresses will be shown in the list - click "Insert Address" next to the address you want to use and it will automatically be placed in the Sage screen.
Now you're all set up and you can start using Sage much more efficiently. Note that you'll need to install and configure the software on each PC you use Sage on. Give us a call on 0151 355 4555 to discuss pricing with one of our account managers - they'll be able to work out the most cost effective licensing option for your business.
If you're a Sage reseller and want to offer our postcode lookup solution to your clients as part of your offering, please get in touch!
