Since my arrival at Data8 most of the blogs I have written has included information on the London Marathon…… this one is no different
Race Day is nearly upon us and I have to say I am a bundle of nerves. However it is not about the race but the Free Data Quality Audit I'll receeive via Data8's Online service, as I will need to check my sponsorship list needs to be cleansed for goneaways
If anyone wants to sponsor me for Children With Cancer UK www.virginmoneygiving.com/davir144 any sponsorship money would be much appreciated and it goes to a very good cause

Our online data cleansing tool, Data8Online, has always given you a unique level of control over how your data is processed while keeping the system accessible to users without in-depth technical knowledge. One of our more powerful features, available to power users, is "cascades".
This feature allows you to define exactly how your data should flow through our system. If you want only those records remaining after de-duplication to be screened through MPS, then new addresses found from NCOA and deceased records checked at these new addresses, this is all possible with cascades.

In my first ever blog for Data8 I mentioned I was running the marathon for Children with Cancer UK (www.childrenwithcanceruk.org.uk). I am very proud and excited to be able to do something for such an amazing cause. This charity helps children in their time of need, and are helping with life-saving research into prevention and treatment of childhood cancer. Their work is of great importance when you consider 1,500 children being diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK.
I have been training for the marathon now for about 3 months and it truly has been one of the toughest physical and mental tasks I have ever undertaken. I am however looking forward to this task and hope I can raise some money for a great cause.
If you would like to check up on how I’m doing with my further preparation please see the important new announcement (need I say more) http://www.marathonnewstv.com/?f=Richard&l=Davies&n=1
Also if anyone would like to sponsor me at www.virginmoneygiving.com/davir144 I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Rich

The Muppets are soon to be back on the big screen!
Ever since I saw "Muppt's 3D" on holiday I have thought they were hilarious. My favourite character since then has been Fozzie Bear (I do a pretty good "Wacka Wacka"), but unfortunately for Fozzie his name would be considered salacious in the data cleansing process which would be correct as we don't live in a world with talking animals made of felt.... more the pity.
This is not an uncommon case, as we all know someone who has used a pseudonym. If you cleanse your data with use you may find a few Fozzie's and a couple of Kermits hiding within your own records.

The January Transfer window has started in football and as the new kid to the Data 8 team I am happy to have joined the top team in data cleansing.
Being new can be a daunting prospect but having stellar support from a team with a wealth of knowledge in data quality has made my transition very easy and I now cannot wait to get started.
Getting to grips with the wide range of services data8 offer, such as, PAF cleansing, goneaway suppressions and validations I know that this service is something that you can benefit from, and service that I wish was available to me in previous roles.
My main responsibility is to ensure that clients are getting good value and the best possible results from their data cleansing. I can give you advice on best practise and the latest developments as well as help and advice on how you can improve your databases.
Outside of work I am training to do the London Marathon for Children With Cancer UK. This great charity helps kids in their time of need and I felt it was something I could do to show my support. However looking back I’m not sure why I thought that a 3rd team rugby player could run/jog/walk over 26miles.
I will keep you updated of my progress both in data8 and my marathon preparation. In the meantime please feel free to contact me on 0151 355 4555
