When you make a request to our postcode software, or any of our other Integr8 data capture and validation web services, you are sending certain information across the Internet.
For simple postcode lookups, where only basic address information is sent and received, there is little danger of identity theft resulting from an attacker intercepting the data. However, other services such as telephone number appending or mover identification require full name and address information to be transmitted, and every service requires your username and password details.
In order to protect your details, you can choose to use our postcode software and our other Integr8 web services over HTTPS, which offers the same level of security as our data cleansing services and your online bank account. To use this, simply use https:// at the start of the service address wherever you call it.
However, note that there is a performance penalty incurred by using HTTPS, so you should use it only where there is a real concern over data security or where performance is not an overriding concern.
