The Importance of Source File Assurance Levels

When undertaking data cleansing on a customer database, you would normally submit a file for an data audit.  Having received the data audit, you would evaluate the results achieved and purchase the appropriate services inline with the marketing activity you are looking to conduct. You would also consider which would be the most appropriate action to flag or suppress a record, together with considering they level of match you feel is appropriate ie forename, initial, surname.

However, many of our first time customers are unaware that in a number of our source files, there are different assurance levels offered.  For example, in Mortascreen there are levels of 1-10. 1 being a postal return, and 7 being a death certificate has been seen.  At Data8 we set our default level to level 7 or above to ensure you are provided with the level of required certainty.  You also have the ability to lower the level through our advanced options on data8online should you wish to for prospect data.

For USS there are 5 levels.  Data8 ensures that we do not rely on postal returns, but only use records where information has been sourced from the payable Royal Mail NCOA service by the consumer, or a customer has notified a company where they have moved to. With a combination of our industry leading source files, our matching capabilities, and our set assurance levels, you can be sure when cleansing your data through Data8 the “highest quality matches” are achieved.
