TPS Screening is necessary whenever calling anyone for the purposes of sales and marketing. The main exclusion to the requirements of the TPS is that organisations can still call for the purposes of genuine market research.
So where does this leave political parties? Does a call from your local prospective parlimentary candidate count as a marketing call or could they claim that they are simply performing market reasearch?
In previous elections, this has somewhat of a contentious issue. Fortunately, this year the Information Commissioner's Office have been very clear and have issued specific guidance on this issue. The answer is that you shouldn't be receiving any calls from politcal parties if you are registered on the TPS
TPS Screening from Data8 can be found in our Data Cleansing services within our Data8Online product. If you have names and addresses, but no telephone numbers then you can use our telephone appending service to add telephone numbers from the BT OSIS database.
