It’s August and the students have gone home or travelling for their vacation, the campus is quiet, this is the time colleges get their alumni database up to scratch.
Of all sectors of society the most mobile will be those that went to college, therefore keeping track of past students is important. Colleges need to inform their alumni about the latest news from the campus, opportunities to do voluntary work or raise donations. All of this in the most cost efficient and least time consuming way.
With online data cleansing this is now a quick and easy exercise, all addresses are cleaned to a Post Office approved standard, and this ensures that any mail will arrive at its destination. Duplicates are scanned for and removed to ensure no mailing is wasted. People who have goneaway can be identified so no mail is sent and in some cases forwarding addresses can be added to make sure contact is not lost. Finally any alumni who have died can be removed from the database using deceased suppressions.
Not only can the data be cleaned but telephone numbers can be appended to the data giving another method of contact.
All of this ensures that college management can trust their data and know that the right person is getting the information, also they are cutting costs as there is no wastage and the reputation of the college is maintained as the mail is correctly addressed.
