Last week, I was opening my post as I do most mornings and I came across an unusually looking letter. It was from a local charitable lottery fund. I thought to myself, "this can't be right, I don't have any lotteries I take part in". It was only then I noticed that the letter was addressed to the previous owners...
After some careful analysis I realised these were his winnings! With no return address on the letter and no way of forwarding his winnings on, I accepted the fact that there was no other option but to contact the lottery fund direct.
However, others may have not been so considerate. What if I hadn't contacted the lottery fund? Mr Jones would have had winnings he would have never known about.
By taking part in a simple data cleansing project, this particular lottery fund would have been able to identify in advance that Mr Jones was a goneaway at this address and even could have had access to mover data with his new address.
