What’s the difference between a goneaway and a mover?

by johnt 9. November 2010 13:43

Typically, when someone moves house, they don’t bother to tell all of the companies who have their name and address details, they then become a goneaway. The cost and environmental damage caused by companies mailing customers at their previous address is huge.

At data8, we want to supply data that our clients can trust. Our data cleansing service uses a selection of data sources in various combinations to identify goneaways and extract the best value for money for our clients.  We combine data from Royal Mail's NCOA Suppress, Equifax disConnect, Acxiom Purity and REaD UK's Goneaway Suppression File (GAS), the data supplied to us is simply flagged to indicate an individual is no longer at that address. Using this variety of data, data8 can insure they offer the most comprehensive service, improving ROI and reducing a company’s carbon footprint.

Once the goneaways have been removed from a database it will now be OK to mail. However this is only half the story.

Identification of movers is the next stage after the goneaways have been extracted, data8 can identify new addresses for the individuals who have been flagged as goneaway, these individuals then become a mover. The hard pressed marketing budget, which generated the customer in the first place, now doesn’t need to recruit another customer to replace the goneaway.

Using data8’s online data cleansing service clients can trust their data, knowing everything has been done to make the data as clean as possible.
