The Exchequer is set to take out £6.2bn from consumer spending in January with the 2.5% increase in VAT. Apparently the major impact will be on the so called ‘stretched middle’, whoever they are, as they will have to cut back their spending.
However, rather than attempting to direct marketing strategies at this nebulous group perhaps a little housekeeping of data may be a better use of resources.
Starting the year with a cleansed database should be the first priority, using data8’s online data cleansing cannot be easier. Upload your data, we produce a data quality audit and you can see how much you can save, not only in cash but in CO2. Simply download the data and start the year with a fresh database.
Rather than spending money attempting to identify the ‘stretched middle’ it may be better to ensure you are not wasting money attempting to contact goneaways or deceased . Alternatively you could use teleappending to add telephone numbers to your address data giving an additional method of contact.
