If you haven’t received an invitation and are wondering if it has been lost in the post here are some thoughts to ponder.
William and Kate sent out their 1,900 invitations in February, the cost of postage for the wedding invitations was £874, I hope they used some form of data cleansing so there was no wastage.
Other royal weddings have seen some extravagant gestures, when King Solomon married the daughter of the Egyptian pharaoh, the bride's father conquered and sacked the Canaanite town of Gezer, killed all its inhabitants and gave it to Solomon as a wedding present. They would have needed to update their database after that to remove all the deceased from their file.
Royal memorabilia comes in various forms, as well as the standard plates, cups and mugs how about - Royal Wedding fake nails (with a picture of the happy couple at each fingertip; £6.99); Royal Wedding iPhone cases (£29.99); Kate Middleton dolls (£120), Kiss Me Kate ale (£1.50), Crown Jewels condoms (£5), Royal Wedding teabags (£4.30), Royal Wedding sick bags (£3). Today would seem to be the last day to purchase something tasteful to remember the wedding. I hope all online retailers were using Postcode Lookup to capture addresses correctly so they could ensure all deliveries are made before the big day.
Oh and thanks for the day off.
