Goneaway Suppression

Typically, when you move house, you wouldn't bother to tell all of the various companies who have your name and address details. The cost and and environmental damage caused by companies mailing customers at their previous address is huge, but our Goneaway Suppression service allows you to identify people who have moved for less than the cost of sending them a single mailing, giving an immediate return on investment.

It is harder and more expensive to obtain new customers than retain existing ones, and our movers service offers you the chance to keep in touch with your customers after they have moved by providing you with their new address.

At Data8, we are proudly data independant. Our Goneaway suppression service combines data from many different sources including Royal Mail, Equifax, Acxiom and REaD UK to provide you with a simple flag to indicate whether your record is no longer at the address you hold.

Some customers may appear on our goneaway files to indicate that they no longer live at the address you have for them, but not on our movers files to get their new address. These customers will be flagged as goneaway but no new address will be provided.

Others will appear on both the goneaway and movers files. These customers will not be flagged as goneaway, but will instead be updated with their new address.

In your FREE data quality audit report, you will be shown the total number of your customers that are goneaway, and the number of these goneaways that can be updated with their new address. If you choose to buy the new addresses, the number of records that will be flagged as goneaway will be the difference between these two numbers.

Data Sources

• Equifax disConnect
  Equifax provide a database of confirmed goneaway and deceased records. There are currently over 25 million records on file going back over 6 years.
• NCOA
  The Royal Mail provides a mail redirection service to people who wish to have mail permanently forwarded to a new address. The NCOA file is a list of all the people who have taken out a permanent redirection and given permission for the data to be used in the service. The NCOA file is updated monthly and is growing at around 100,000 records per month. The Royal Mail estimates that around 50% of people moving house will have their mail redirected, and around 50% of these will give permission for this information to be used on the NCOA.
• USS
  The Royal Mail also produce the Universal Suppression Service (USS), a goneaway file containing data from their NCOA file and other data derived from mailing returns.
• Purity
  Acxiom produce the Purity goneaway file by analysing information such as product warranties and registrations, lifestyle questionnaires and magazine subscriptions.
• GAS
  REaD UK produce the Goneaway Suppression File (GAS). Both private and public domain data sources, made available through The Read Group’s partnership with Skipton Information Group, are used to create a unique file of non-assumed home-moved records.
