Integr8 Postcode Lookup Quick Start Guide
Configuration
Before you will be able to use Integr8 Postcode Lookup to speed up the entry of addresses into your applications,
you will need to configure it with your Data8 username and password, and the details of the
postcode lookup licence that you have purchased. To
do this, double-click on the
icon in your system tray and the Integr8 Postcode Lookup options dialog will be displayed.
Enter your username and password into the boxes provided and click OK. If you have purchased a postcode lookup licence
other than internal user licence at address level, please select the appropriate licence from the drop down list. Note that
licences intended for web use are not allowed.
Automatic Postcode Detection
The simplest way to use Integr8 Postcode Lookup with the majority of applications is simply to type in the postcode you
want to find as normal. Integr8 Postcode Lookup will detect that you have entered a postcode and display a message asking
if you want to find the full address for that postcode. Answer yes, and you will be shown another window that lets you
configure where each part of the full address should be placed in your application. This is only displayed the first time
you use Integr8 Postcode Lookup in each application, so you don't need to go through this process each time.
From here, simply drag & drop the
icon next to any part of
the address you are interested in onto the appropriate part of your application. As you drag, you will see any available fields
in your application highlighted with a black border. When you see the correct part highlighted, release the mouse.
If you cannot select the correct part of the application with this method, it is probably because the application is not developed
according to standard Microsoft practises. In these cases, you will normally see a much larger area highlighted and will not be
able to highlight just the text area that you want the address to be placed into. If this is the case for the application you
are trying to use it with, you will need to click on the "Advanced" button and follow the instructions below.
If you were not able to select the correct fields in your application to store the address in earlier, you can use this advanced
screen to control how the address will be sent back to your application. This method works by sending a series of keystrokes to
your application in order to simulate the address being entered by hand.
To use these advanced settings, tick the box next to any parts of the address that you want to be sent back to the application.
You can change the values in the "Keys to send after" column to select what key should be used to move on to the next field, e.g.
{TAB} or {ENTER}. You can enter as many or as few keys as you need here, and you can also combine them with special keys such as
{SHIFT} and {CTRL} as required by your application.
You may also need to change the order in which the different parts of the address are sent back to the application. You can do this
by selecting a part of the address from the list and using the up and down arrow buttons to the right to move it in the list.
If there could already be some text in the address fields in your application before you use Integr8 Postcode Lookup, you will need
to configure it to delete any existing text before it enters the details of the new address. You can do this using the "Keys to send
before" column. By setting this to {CTRL}{HOME}{CTRL}{SHIFT}{END}{DEL}, you will be sending the standard Windows key combinations to
select all the existing text and delete it.
When you have selected where in your application you want the address to be placed, click Next and you can configure how the address
should be formatted. You can select whether the address should be in standard, upper or lower case. If you have selected more than one
part of the address to go into the same field in your application, you can also select whether to put these different address parts on
separate lines or whether to put them all on one line, separated by commas.
You've now finished setting up how the address should be entered into your application, so you now just need to select when these same
settings should be used again in the future. You can select to always use the settings when entering an address anywhere in the same
application, or in any application when the title of the current window is set to a certain value, or both. If you select both, then the
settings will only be used within the current application for windows that have the correct title. This is useful if there is more than
one window in the application that you can enter an address into which may require different settings than the one you have been working
with so far.
Now that you have finished configuring Integr8 Postcode Lookup for your application, a list of addresses in the postcode you have entered
will appear. You can refine this list by entering a building name or number or company name. To place an address into your application
according to the rules you have configured, click the "Insert Address" link.
Inserting an address manually
The automatic postcode detection feature works with most programs, but some applications work in a different way which mean that Integr8
Postcode Lookup cannot detect when you have entered a postcode, so you will not see the message prompting you to find the full address.
If this is the case, you can still start Integr8 Postcode Lookup for your application manually by placing the cursor in the first address
field in your application and pressing the key combination Ctrl+8. This will start the same process as described above, during which you
will train Integr8 Postcode Lookup to work with your application and then find and insert the required address.
If you just want to find an address without inserting it directly into an application, or if you are having problems configuring Integr8
Postcode Lookup to work with your application, you can open the postcode lookup window manually by right-clicking on the
icon and selecting "Manual Address Lookup". This will
display the same postcode lookup window as shown above, except that instead of "Insert Address" you will see a "Copy Address" link that
will place the full details of the address into the Windows clipboard, ready for you to paste into your application.
