Name Separation (also known as Name Parsing or Name Breakdown) extracts the title, forename and surname of your customers from a single
field. For example, if your original data contained the data "Mr John P T Smith Esq", this service
would provide you five additional columns containing "Mr", "John", "P T", "Smith" and "Esq" respectively, helping
you address your communications to "Mr Smith" or "John" as required, and making it easier to
find individual records in your database.
Having a sorted database is extremely important if you want to maximise the efficiency of any
marketing campaigns. The name separation service splits the record you hold and extracts the
title, forename and surname of your customers from a single field into individual fields.
By having your data in such a way you are then able to personalise campaigns using parts of
the name that you have selected.
Separating your data into separate fields will also make it much easier to find individual
records in your database. The service that Data8 offers will therefore save you the time of
having to go through each individual file and sort them yourself.
Name separation also appends a suitable salutation (both formal and informal) onto your records so that you
can easily create mail merges that do not have embarrassing mistake such as "Dear
R".
