The future for Magento

There’s no denying that the world’s commerce is quickly moving online.

In fact, according to Statista, retail eCommerce sales grew by 23.3% in 2018, and on top of that, Nasdaq predicted that by 2040, around 95% of all purchases will be via eCommerce.

As a result of this, it’s essential for business owners to not only stay up to date with the latest eCommerce trends, but also meet the growing demand for first class, accurate and reliable shopping cart solutions.

Things are changing for Magento

Magento is currently the world’s largest eCommerce platform, powering around 245,000 websites around the globe.

Since the release of Magento 2 in 2015, it's been announced that official support for the original platform will end in June 2020, meaning there will be no more security patches released and no more support with regard to the platform, its features and functionality.

It's because of this, existing extensions have been re-built, with official merchant support to soon come to an end.

So with less than 10 months until the cut off, now’s the perfect time to not only migrate but also review your current plugins.

Where does Data8 come into this?

With the increase of eCommerce, and more specifically mCommerce, we’re now able to place orders quickly, on the go and in-between other tasks. But as a result of this, we’re also more likely to make typos, increasing the risk of submitting inaccurate data and delaying the order process.

Data8 eliminates that risk.

Our Magento cart validation service extends the power by verifying key information such as address, telephone number and email address in real time.

Looking beyond human errors, it standardises fuzzy logic to capture accurate data at point of entry, and incorporates market-leading predictive technology to auto-complete all fields in minimum key strokes.

This has many benefits to both you and your customers; saving time, reducing checkout friction and eliminating cart abandonment.

But that's not all.

To stay at the cutting edge of the industry, we’ve taken the release of Magento 2 as an opportunity to also update our extension to offer a next-generation experience.

So what’s changed?

Additional features

The update brings a complete suite of real time validation services, including:

  • Predictive Address
  • Postcode Lookup
  • Email Validation
  • Telephone Validation (International Telephone Validation with Mobile and Landline options)
  • Unusable Name Validation

These can now be applied to various forms across your Magento site, including checkout, account creation and adding addresses to accounts.

Further flexibility

You can now choose whether to validate fields on data entry or once the form is submitted.

Easier integration

We've re-designed the configuration page, making it easier than ever before to get our plugin set up and running on a Magento 2 website.

What's the next steps?

If you haven't already, the next step is to start migrating over to Magento 2.

Then, you can get up and running in minutes with our official extensions in the Magento Marketplace.

This plugin works with the latest version of Magento (2.3.2) and has been tested for compatibility back to version 2.1.16.
