Upcoming PredictiveAddress™ Changes

We will be announcing some exciting new improvements to our PredictiveAddress™ service over the next few weeks. You can learn more about PredictiveAddress here : https://www.data-8.co.uk/data-validation/address-validation/predictiveaddress/. In preparation for these changes we are updating our standard predictiveaddress.js script to accommodate the new features.

We know that many of our clients have customised the look and feel of the user experience produced by this script. The upcoming version of this script can add in more options which may have an impact on any customisations you've made.

If you haven't added any CSS styling to customise the look and feel of the PredictiveAddress™ component, there is no action you need to take.

If you are using custom CSS, we've made a preview version of the new script available for you to test your customisations against prior to the service updates being released. This should give you chance to make any necessary changes to your customisations so the new release goes seamlessly.

Testing with the preview version

In your pages at the moment you'll have some script like:

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://webservices.data-8.co.uk/javascript/predictiveaddress.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://webservices.data-8.co.uk/content/predictiveaddress.css" />

To start using the new versions in your development or sandbox environments, add .beta to each of these URLs:

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://webservices.data-8.co.uk/javascript/predictiveaddress.beta.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://webservices.data-8.co.uk/content/predictiveaddress.beta.css" />

You can now test that the drop-down elements produced by this script when you select your address textbox appear correctly. In particular, check that the country name and icon are shown correctly when you first enter the textbox and when you click the "Change Country" link.
