Business Applications Developer
Location: Chester (Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Business Applications Developer to join our growing development team. This role is ideal for a developer with strong .NET skills who enjoys problem solving, debugging complex issues, and building business applications that deliver real value to customers.
You’ll work on our suite of data quality and validation products, developing new features, maintaining existing solutions, and investigating technical issues across a range of Microsoft technologies.
While experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Dataverse would be advantageous, we’re primarily looking for a strong developer with excellent troubleshooting skills and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance .NET applications, services and integrations.
- Investigate and resolve software defects, performance issues and technical problems.
- Work with APIs, data integrations and validation services.
- Contribute to new product development and ongoing platform improvements.
- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews and release activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation where required.
- Work closely with other developers, product owners and support teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Assist with technical investigations relating to customer-reported issues where required.
Essential Skills
- Commercial experience developing with C# and .NET.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving ability.
- Experience working with SQL Server and relational databases.
- Experience developing or integrating REST APIs.
- Understanding of source control systems such as Git.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a development team.
Desirable Skills
- Microsoft Dataverse & Power Platform Knowledge.
- Azure development and cloud services.
- JavaScript / TypeScript.
- Modern front-end development using React, TSX, Fluent UI and related technologies.
- Technical documentation experience.
What We’re Looking For
We’re more interested in finding a capable developer with strong fundamentals than someone who already knows every platform we use. If you’re technically curious, enjoy debugging difficult problems and want to develop your skills within the Microsoft ecosystem, we’d love to hear from you.
To apply for this role, please email your CV and Cover Letter to kerryl@data-8.co.uk.
