Verifies if an email address is valid.

Description

Data8's Email Validation service validates the email address provided in the data at the level requested.

Validation can be performed from a syntax check i.e., the structure of the email address, to a full real-time validation of the mailbox.

This service is costed on a per lookup basis.

Validation Level	Validation Level Used to specify the level at which the email validation is processed at, available options are: Syntax checks the structure of the email address only. Domain checks the domain name exists and is set up to receive email. Server validates that at least one of the mail servers advertised for the domain is live. Address validates that the mail server accepts mail for the full email address.

Address validates that the mail server accepts mail for the full email address.

Output Columns

This service adds the following columns to your output data.

Email Validation Flag	Email Validation Flag The validation result for the email address in the data. Validation response is one of the following: Valid - Email address is valid according to the selected validation level. Invalid - Email address is not valid according to the selected validation level. Inconclusive - A definitive validation status could not be returned. CatchAll - When performing address level validation, the mail server was determined as accepting mail for any address provided to it. Greylisted - When performing address level validation, the mail server declined to indicate whether the email address was valid or not due to a greylisting rule. If multiple email addresses are on the input data then an "Email Validation Flag" field will be populated for each.
Email Type	Email Type Indicates the type of email address populated in the data. Available types are: Personal - Relates to an individual at a non-free domain. Generic - Relates to a non-specific mailbox. Free - Relates to an individual at a free domain. Disposable - Relates to an email address created for short term usage. If multiple email addresses are on the input data then an "Email Type" field will be populated for each.
Suggested Email Address	Suggested Email Address Requires a name, company name or address to be populated. This uses the additional data to suggest a corrected email address where appropriate. If multiple email addresses are on the input data then a "Suggested Email Address" field will be populated for each.
Email Comment	Email Comment Requires a name, company name or address to be populated. If a corrected email address has been provided, this field contains the reason why it has been corrected. If multiple email addresses are on the input data then an "Email Comment" field will be populated for each.
Email Salutation	Email Salutation Requires a name, company name or address to be populated. Uses the additional data provided to ascertain a salutation for the owner of the email address. If multiple email addresses are on the input data then an "Email Salutation" field will be populated for each.
